A strong sense of connection to others, especially SOBER others, is an enormous advantage to those in recovery. Human connections comfort, inform and empower. This is especially important when the task at hand is difficult, requires sustained and focused effort, and may require the support of others. If bridges have been burned, during active addiction, especially with spouses, children, relatives, friends and co-workers, the repair process will take both time and sustained effort. Seeing is believing, and if you’ve fallen off that wagon several times, you’ll be dealing with heavy skepticism – thus the importance of a recovery community. These folks have been there, done that, and they know how difficult that path can be. Lean on them. Trust their experience, Learn their patience. Follow in their footsteps.
